Among the many accomplished musicians in Cosmic Butterflies [And A Bear], Jacqueline May is a standout multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. This weekend, we’re celebrating the her debut album: “a tiny place,” created by the incredible ensemble she orchestrated: arco rei.
The Austin-based band, arco rei, will deliver their world premiere performance at the Radiance Golden Dome, in South Austin. Jacqueline is the evening’s artist extraordinaire, featuring her arco rei creations, and she will also perform cello in a set of songs by Cosmic Butterflies.
- Time / Date: Saturday, Dec 7th at 7:30-10:30 pm
- Location: The Radiance Golden Dome in Austin, Texas
- Tickets: $15, available on Eventbrite and at the door.
- Details: see the Facebook Event page
Arco rei music is described as “transcendant chamber folk,” combining elements of orchestral music with psychedelic flavors. Some songs have a world music vibe, with influences from various nations and traditions, while others are otherworldly.
Here’s an album review by fellow Cosmic Butterfly bandmate, Cabe Lindsay:
“To me, every track is a journey. Every note resonates as a stepping stone, if not a gust of wind to lift my wings. When I first heard “Like The Meadowlark,” I was awe-inspired, and the inspiration continues after repeated listens. Such a treasure of artistry, and heart intelligence, and sweet sparkling sentiments throughout the album.”
